ABOUT Shina

At one time, I was working in a fast-paced environment with a high-pressure, yet successful career as a marketing art director. My health was not my immediate focus as I continued to meet deadlines while life passed me by.  It was only as the result of a serious car accident that I was introduced to the healing benefits of Pilates and yoga. I immediately developed a passion for healthy living and over time, my yoga practice grew deeper and of greater importance in my life.

During my yoga teacher training, I was introduced to the principles of Ayurveda and found my life’s true calling. This ancient tradition emphasizes a balanced lifestyle through nutritional diet, exercise and body cleansing, which results in a healthy mind, body and spirit.  This passionate desire to achieve optimal health, combined with my creative talent for cooking is the foundation for Food As Medicine.

I am now a certified Ayurvedic Consultant and plant-based chef and intend to touch the lives of as many people that I can reach, so that they too may find their own life balance.

“Shina really engaged the group and shared great knowledge the attendees found helpful, not just for cooking healthy, but for better lifestyle habits.  I loved the hands on, casual atmosphere she created where she did Q&A while she was cooking.” Abella
